Desktop Wallpapers

Quantum Software previously had a large number of very nice images for use as desktop wallpapers / backdrops available for download. These are now also available from this site (with thanks to Martin Bazley for locating the images and supplying them to me).

Back_It

Back_It is an easy to use program designed to back up your valuable programs or data every day to another drive or directory whilst you continue working. The user has full control over the items being backed up and items are ZIP compressed to take up minimum disc space.

Back_It works on any RISC OS computer with RISC OS 3.1 to 5.X StrongARM/Select/32bit RISC OS (Iyonix pc).

BgrdImage

You supply a path to a directory of JPEGs or Sprites and this little program sets one as your desktop wallpaper - but it is intelligent enough not to repeat itself until its displayed all of them.

Blinds

Blinds is an icon an application manager; with it running on your computer you can make up to 32 individually tailered blinds-like windows which open and shut at the click of a mouse. These windows when closed take up virtually no valuable desktop room, yet are easily accessible.

Files or applications placed on a blind can be very easily altered to show either text only, sprite & text or just the icon picture.

Blinds V1.27a works on any RISC OS computer running RISC OS 3.1 or higher, but for the IyonixPC and A9Home, you will need to update the Brandy relocatable module.

Campins

Campins is a collection of RISC OS scripts which, when run, will download an image from somewhere on the internet and use it as your desktop wallpaper - enabling you to have a backdrop that changes at regular intervals.

Campins is designed to work on the following versions of RISC OS: 3.5 to 5. It works best with RISC OS Select or better.

CFSIbatch

This is a batch processor, allowing you to process any number of files in the background using ChangeFSI, while you get on with other tasks.

Convertlfs

This program is for those people that have bought RISC OS 4 and previously used LongFS to generate long file names on their drives. Now you don't need to use LongFS, but this application will convert your files back from 'name}002' to their correct long names.

IEURL

This program allows users of Fresco to make use of Internet Explorer Favorites files that they may have imported from other sources, such as from the office.

Impressive

Impressive provides an extended button bar addon for Impression Style, Publisher or Publisher Plus, set up ready to use with over 80 different icons which, when clicked upon will make Impression perform its functions fast and accurately without you having to do anything more, and its functions can be easily tailored to your own special requirements.

Impressive works on any Acorn Risc computer with RISC OS 3.1 to 4.0 and also requires a copy of either Impression Style, Publisher or Publisher Plus.

Keystroke

Keystroke is a sophisticated macro-making program that allows the user, via a simple-to-use window system, to control one or more desktop programs by replaying icon clicks, mouse movement, text insertion, running programs, etc. at your command. By doing this in a controlled and interactive way you can actually make other programs more powerful and much easier to use.

V4.04 of Keystroke has been developed to be fully 32bit compatible and works on all RISC OS computers from 3.1 through to RISC OS Select and RISC OS 5 on the Iyonix pc.

NoSpam

NoSpam is a 'patch' application to fix a bug in the antispam tool Monty v1.24.

nOver

nOver is a RISC OS program designed to optionally alert you when you attempt to overwrite a file. It can also optionally keeps a backup of the original file if you do wish to overwrite your original. But wish to have a automatic backup made of it.

nOver will work on the following versions of RISC OS: 3.1, 3.5, 3.6, StrongARM 3.7 and RISC OS 4 (Select).

PenTwist

PenTwist is designed for use with the Paradise Pen Tablets - Paint Pal deluxe. It pops up a small window on the bottom left of your desktop, and when clicked this will swap the actions of the nib and lower button of the pen.

OKmonitor

OKmonitor fades the 'OK' icon in save dialogues until a valid (full) pathname is entered in the text field. This ensures the user has some idea of where the file is being saved, rather than saving blindly to the CSV.

OKmonitor works on any Acorn Risc computer with RISC OS 3.1, 3.5, 3.6 or 3.7 and StrongARM and uses 16K of RAM. Applications known not to work with OKmonitor are FireWorks, Eureka and DataPower.

PlaySnd

This program uses Rick Hudson's PlayIt sound module to play a sound sample either when the application is run, or by way of a star command.

Qunpack

Qunpack is designed to take the fragments of the Quake game (V1.01 to V1.06) off its CDROM (or whereever it is held) and extract the contents into a standard RISC OS directory. This is to allow the PAK files and other Quake text files to be read easily without having to use a PC card to decompress them first!

Removeicn

This program removes icons of your choice from the Icon bar so that people can't fiddle with them. It also contains dummy replacement Floppy/Harddrive icons which remove all of the normal options these have so that you know they can't accidentally format or rename your discs.

RunCheck

This is a small command line program which allows you to check if a particular application is loaded and, if not, proceeds to run it.

ScoreChk

This is a simple application to monitor the Scoring file in MessengerPro, and let you know when this file changes.

TempDir

This program places an icon on the Icon Bar to which you can drag and drop files in order to save them to disc quickly, without having to first open a filer window. It creates a new directory for each day, into which the files are saved.

WimpInfo

WimpInfo is a useful tool for programmers, designed to reveal what your windows and tasks are up to.
